Can you believe it? It's been 30 years since K and K Fireworks first opened its doors, and what a journey it's been! From humble family beginnings to becoming your go-to source for all things pyrotechnic, we couldn't have done it without you, our amazing customers.
We've seen trends come and go (remember those auto foolers?), lit up countless celebrations, and witnessed firsthand the pure joy that fireworks bring to faces young and old.
A Trip Down Memory Lane:
A humble beginning in 1995: Chris and Rick had a vision: to bring the thrill of professional-grade fireworks to the everyday consumer in their backyard in Perryville. Armed with those amazing "Rick Deals", we set out to make K and K Fireworks a reality.
Let's expand: We started in those little wooden stands on Highway 61N and then added a tent in McBride. This marked a turning point for K and K, allowing us to expand to Springfield, Ozark and McBride with stands in all of those locations to better serve both our Southwest and Southeast Missouri families.
Getting back to our roots: After running stands throughout the state and maybe losing an entire fireworks tent one year due to a downburst, we decided to get back to our roots and focus on our Perryville and McBride locations. Our roots were more important than expansion and allowed us to maintain that family environment for everyone!
Losing those we love and adding a new generation and some great friends too: As time would pass, so to would some of our most caring and hardworking family members over the past 30 years. The loss of Wayne in 2004 followed by the loss of the glue that held us all together, Mom in 2005; we continued to push on and grow closer as we added that next generation of pyros to the family. Whether it was grandkids, nieces, nephews or great grandkids, they all played an important role. We even talked some our closest friends into being part of the fun. Sure - we can turn a shop into a fireworks stand!
Mother nature and McBride winds: Between moving a greenhouse, blowing a trailer or two over, the threat of floods then drought - then burn "bands" bans - back to the threat of water coming over the levee - we continued to come back for more. Did I mention a spontaneously combusting powerline or grill of pork steaks that almost lit up Perry County?
A legacy ends: All amazing things have both those ups and downs. The good times, happy times, sad times, memories, frustrations but most importantly - the impact. Dad made us laugh, made us curse, made the best deals in the industry but was the most generous and caring business partner in the biz. From attending demos to helping order every type of saturn missile known in the industry, to handing out sparklers to the kids to sitting in his metal chair at every stand he worked at - dad always made an impact. We lost a "K" (aka: Papa Bear) in the K and K name in April of 2023.
The next chapter: We promise to continue to run the business with the same integrity, dedication, and customer focus that he instilled in our family. We will let his values be the guiding principle in every decision we make moving forward. We will apply the lessons he taught us about hard work, honesty, and kindness to all aspects of running K and K Fireworks. We will be the fireworks business he would be proud of.
Why We Love What We Do:
There's nothing quite like the feeling of lighting that fuse and watching the night sky erupt in a symphony of color and sound. But more than that, we love being a part of your celebrations. From backyard barbecues to weddings to community festivals, K and K Fireworks has been there to add that extra spark of magic.
